The Cheetah Girls stands out for its intentional, multi-ethnic lead ensemble. By centering African American and Latina characters, the film breaks away from the homogeneity typical of early 2000s teen media, presenting a multicultural identity as the narrative norm. While the film excels in showcasing strong women's ability to drive the story, it remains limited in exploring LGBTQ+ identities and systemic issues. Adherence to conventional, optimistic worldviews keeps the narrative within traditional boundaries. Ultimately, the film marks a progressive shift from its era's casting practices, prioritizing a diverse group of young women facing professional and personal challenges.
