Category Breakdown

LGBTQ+ Representation

Limited

The film lacks identifiable LGBTQ+ characters or narratives. The central conflict focuses on a traditional familial unit without engaging with non-heteronormative identities.

Gender Representation

Fair

Mónica serves as a central protagonist with significant agency. However, her role is framed within a traditional maternal archetype rather than subverting gendered hierarchies.

Racial & Ethnic Diversity

Limited

The narrative focuses on specific interpersonal drama without evidence of diverse casting. There is no clear indication of a multi-ethnic cast or disruption of casting norms.

Religious & Cultural Diversity

Limited

The plot uses a supernatural pact as a standard horror device. It avoids deliberate critiques of Western institutions, capitalism, or organized religion.

Disability Representation

Limited

A character in a coma serves as the primary plot catalyst. This medical state functions as a narrative device rather than a nuanced portrayal of disability.

Strengths

  • The film provides a strong female protagonist in Mónica, who drives the central narrative through her agency.

Areas for Improvement

  • The film lacks LGBTQ+ representation and diverse casting.
  • Disability is used as a plot device rather than a nuanced portrayal.
  • The narrative relies on traditional archetypes rather than subverting social roles.

AI Analysis

The Pact operates as a conventional supernatural thriller that prioritizes individual emotional stakes over sociopolitical commentary. The narrative architecture is built around a high-stakes maternal crisis, focusing on the psychological tension between a parent and a mysterious force. Because the story centers on a traditional nuclear family and individualistic trauma, it lacks the intentionality needed to disrupt social hierarchies. The film adheres to standard genre tropes rather than integrating intersectional perspectives or diverse identities. Ultimately, the film's focus remains on personal desperation and the mechanics of the horror genre, resulting in a narrow representation of the human experience.
