New Showbiz Analysis

Alarum is a genre-driven thriller that emphasizes action and institutional critique rather than identity-focused storytelling. It presents Lara as a capable spy who holds significant influence alongside her male counterpart. Despite challenging the authority of global intelligence agencies, the film remains within conventional romantic and casting frameworks. The narrative lacks deeper exploration of multiple aspects of identity and fails to offer explicit representation of diverse social identities. Overall, Alarum functions as a standard genre ensemble piece, providing moderate inclusion through its supporting cast but falling short of pushing beyond traditional formulas.
