Ling serves as a female protagonist, providing a level of inclusion. However, it remains unclear if the film subverts traditional hierarchies or grants her agency equal to the male characters.

Racial & Ethnic Diversity

Good

AI Analysis

The Dragon Pearl functions as a standard genre piece that utilizes international settings to broaden its scope. While it moves away from purely Western-centric storytelling through its Chinese setting and characters, it largely adheres to established adventure-fantasy conventions. The film achieves moderate success in ethnic inclusion by centering its plot around Chinese mythology and landscapes. However, the narrative architecture appears to follow traditional tropes rather than actively disrupting social or cultural hierarchies. Ultimately, the film provides a family-friendly experience that incorporates non-Western elements without necessarily subverting the traditional structures of the adventure genre.
