The film functions as a standard genre piece, focusing on suspense and traditional interpersonal dynamics rather than exploring multiple aspects of identity. It adheres closely to established holiday mystery clichés. While the female protagonist takes control through her investigation, the narrative remains anchored in traditional romantic arcs and Western seasonal motifs. The lack of diverse casting or social critique keeps the film within a very narrow framework.
