The film centers on the social struggles of adolescents within a limited demographic. It deconstructs the 'cool' adolescent archetype through failure but does not broaden its scope of representation. The narrative adheres to conventional gender roles and a homogeneous cast, avoiding diverse identities and cultural critiques. Despite an international setting, the story remains confined to traditional Anglo-centric views.
Category Breakdown
The film focuses solely on straight relationships and does not include any LGBTQ perspectives.
Male characters try to embody exaggerated masculinity, often failing comically. Female characters have little influence over the plot and serve mainly as objects of desire or sources of social embarrassment.
The cast is overwhelmingly white and British, with no exploration of racial or cultural diversity in the Australian context.
Humor arises from characters' disregard for social norms and authority. However, the film does not critically examine Western institutions or political structures.
The film does not represent physical, sensory, or neurodivergent disabilities. Social awkwardness is portrayed as a personality trait rather than a sign of neurodivergence.

Official Synopsis
Neil, Will and Simon receive an invite from Jay to join him in Australia whilst on his gap year, who promises them it’s 'the sex capital of the world'. With their lives now rather dull compared to their hedonistic school days and legendary lads holiday, it’s an offer they can’t refuse.
