Freight is a conventional crime thriller that prioritizes established genre clichés over diverse representation. The narrative structure centers on a singular male figure, reinforcing traditional masculine leadership and protector roles. While the plot acknowledges ethnic diversity through the presence of a Russian gang and Eastern European victims, these groups function largely as plot devices. They lack the ability to act needed to move beyond mere narrative impetus. Ultimately, the film adheres to a traditional framework of individualistic justice. It does not seek to deconstruct social hierarchies or challenge systemic norms, focusing instead on domestic stability and retaliatory action.
