Gremlins 2: The New Batch serves as a biting social satire rather than a focused exploration of demographic representation. It prioritizes the critique of cultural institutions and capitalist structures over identity-based storytelling. The film excels in its sophisticated critique of consumerism and authority. By presenting the mall as an overwhelming force, it successfully challenges the stability of modern social norms. However, it lacks depth in specific demographic categories, missing opportunities for multi-layered arcs and meaningful representation of underrepresented identities.
