The film serves as an intimate domestic drama that prioritizes psychological realism over social identity politics. Its primary strength lies in its challenge of traditional gender roles, shifting focus to female protagonists after the male figure is removed from the leadership role. However, the narrative scope is quite narrow. By focusing on a homogeneous, white, middle-class suburban setting, the film misses opportunities for racial and multi-layered depth. The absence of LGBTQ+ characters and disability representation further restricts its demographic reach. Ultimately, the film offers a nuanced look at female-led family dynamics but lacks a broader systemic critique of social structures.
