The film distinguishes itself from standard war cinema by shifting the focus from Western occupiers to the survivors navigating a systemic collapse. It utilizes a diverse ensemble to provide a more nuanced, less Eurocentric perspective on the Kabul evacuation. By centering an Afghan commander and highlighting the specific dangers faced by women and journalists, the narrative prioritizes the experiences of different identities. The strength of the film lies in its ability to use a diverse cast to explore moral ambiguity and the failure of state power. While the film lacks visible LGBTQ+ representation, its strong performance in racial and cultural dimensions compensates for this gap. It successfully deconstructs traditional thriller clichés through a lens of geopolitical realism.
