A plague of locusts strikes the Great Valley, decimating the plants and forcing the dinosaurs to migrate in search of food. When the adults in the herd begin fighting over the scarce resources, young Littlefoot and his friends Petrie, Cera, Ducky and Spike split off from the main group, becoming stranded on an island after their path was destroyed by a tsunami. As they search for a way off the island, they encounter an old acquaintance who may become friend or foe.

AI Analysis
The film follows a traditional adventure structure centered on a group of young dinosaurs navigating environmental instability. Because the setting is a prehistoric landscape, the narrative lacks the framework to explore human identity-based representation. While the juvenile characters operate as a unified, relatively egalitarian collective, the film does not intentionally disrupt social tropes. It prioritizes themes of survival and peer-group cohesion over the deconstruction of social norms. Ultimately, the story functions as a conservative hero's journey. It focuses on the resilience of youth against external threats rather than providing depth in social or cultural representation.
