Category Breakdown
LGBTQ+ Representation
The film features a spectral love triangle that disrupts traditional romantic structures. However, there is no explicit confirmation of queer identities or non-cisnormative expression.
Gender Representation
Female characters drive the narrative, with Julie navigating a domestic space defined by Elizabeth's authority. The deceased male figure shifts power away from traditional masculine leadership.
Racial & Ethnic Diversity
The setting in Bordeaux and current character archetypes offer no evidence of a diverse cast. Without specific casting details, the film risks presenting a homogeneous ensemble.
Religious & Cultural Diversity
The story deconstructs domestic stability by challenging the sanctity of the traditional family unit. It explores the performative nature of social roles through a psychological lens.
Disability Representation
The narrative contains no visible or invisible representation of disability, neurodivergence, or chronic illness.

AI Analysis
The Lodger focuses on psychological tension and the subversion of domestic roles rather than systemic social critique. It succeeds in centering female agency, moving away from patriarchal tropes by making the male presence purely spectral. However, the film lacks clear evidence of intersectional depth. The absence of racial diversity and explicit LGBTQ+ coding limits its broader social impact. Ultimately, the film is a character-driven psychological thriller that prioritizes atmospheric suspense over diverse representation.
