The Ghouls is a traditional, low-budget horror film that prioritizes visceral shock and individualist nihilism. The narrative centers on a male protagonist's moral bankruptcy and the discovery of subterranean monsters, adhering to established genre conventions. Representation is limited, with the film relying on homogeneous character archetypes. The focus remains on a singular, predatory male perspective, lacking multi-layered complexity or disruption of social hierarchies. Ultimately, the film serves as a gritty character study of social alienation. It does not intentionally address diverse representation, focusing instead on a narrow, genre-specific exploration of urban decay.
