Flashover is a genre-driven disaster film that prioritizes kinetic storytelling and procedural realism over social commentary. The narrative architecture focuses on the struggle between human ability to act and environmental catastrophe, specifically an industrial explosion triggered by an earthquake. The film reinforces traditional values of civic duty and institutional competence, functioning as a high-stakes situational drama where the immediate physical crisis takes precedence over character-driven identity exploration. Because the plot centers on the mechanics of emergency response, it lacks multi-layered complexity and adheres to established disaster cinema clichés.
