Supernova is a straightforward survival thriller that centers on immediate physical threats and suspense. It relies on well-known genre conventions and a largely homogeneous, male-dominated cast. The isolated space setting keeps the narrative focused on immediate dangers, such as a mysterious survivor and a black hole. This limits the exploration of broader cultural or systemic issues. Overall, the film sticks to traditional storytelling methods, using conventional character types and a lack of layered diversity to maintain its thriller elements.
