Category Breakdown

Does One of Them Days have LGBTQ+ representation?

Good

The film critiques the assumption that everyone is straight or cisgender by showing male characters as emotionally negligent. Though there are no explicit LGBTQ+ characters, the focus on female solidarity provides a non-traditional framing of emotional support.

How does One of Them Days portray gender?

Excellent

Dreux and Alyssa drive the plot through their intellect and resilience, challenging the stereotype of the competent male partner. Their partnership highlights mutual respect and shared struggle, proving women can solve crises without male intervention or passive victimhood.

How racially and ethnically diverse is One of Them Days?

Excellent

A predominantly Black cast grounds the story in Baldwin Village, avoiding casting actors of different backgrounds. The narrative centers Black women’s ability to act and commercial viability, portraying a multifaceted community ecosystem that moves beyond stereotypical roles and historical industry hesitations.

How does One of Them Days represent religion and culture?

Good

The film frames economic precarity as a systemic challenge rather than a moral failing, critiquing capitalist structures. It uses humor to subvert serious issues, positioning female friendship as a vital support system that challenges the Western ideal of the nuclear family.
