The Diggers functions as a conventional crime drama that prioritizes genre clichés like loyalty and betrayal over progressive representation. The story is built around a masculine-coded conflict between a low-rent criminal and a crime boss. While the ensemble is described as colorful, the film lacks specific evidence of characters reflecting multiple aspects of diversity. It adheres to traditional social hierarchies rather than attempting to deconstruct or subvert them. Ultimately, the film maintains a standard profile, focusing on individual survival within a criminal underworld rather than exploring diverse identities or systemic critiques.
