New Showbiz Analysis

The film effectively challenges social hierarchies by positioning a Ukrainian migrant worker as a central figure of emotional and spiritual influence. This reversal of the typical migrant labor cliché provides a nuanced critique of class and ethnic power dynamics. While the film offers strong commentary on ethnicity and culture, it is less explicit about specific LGBTQ+ identities or visible disabilities. Instead, it relies on broader themes of human vulnerability and societal critique. Overall, the work serves as a progressive exploration of social stratification, using its protagonist to reveal the facades of a wealthy, sheltered community.

Official Synopsis

Zenia is an industrious Ukrainian migrant worker in Poland who makes house calls as a masseur to the needy and aspirational residents of a middle-class gated community near Warsaw. He is privy to all of their problems, anxieties and secrets – and something of an unwitting guru figure. Zenia’s grounded spirituality, apparent healing powers and broad shoulders make him an object of lust for many of the lost souls in the community.
