Synopsis

Anna is 60 and her acting heyday is now behind her. She lives on her own but has a friend and confidant in her downstairs neighbour Michel, who is also single. Reluctantly, Anna accepts a job as a language coach for 17-year-old Adrian who has a speech impediment and is something of a misfit. She recognises him as the boy who recently snatched her handbag in the street.

Racial & Ethnic Diversity

Fair

The film's ethnic composition is not specified in the available details. The narrative appears to prioritize internal psychological landscapes over broad demographic breadth.

Religious & Cultural Diversity

Good

The story engages with social marginalization through the relationship between a professional woman and a misfit youth. It explores subjective morality and the subversion of social orders.

Strengths

  • Effective subversion of gender and age hierarchies by centering an older woman in a position of authority.
  • Exploration of social marginalization and non-traditional emotional connections.

Areas for Improvement

AI Analysis

Nicolette Krebitz's film offers a nuanced look at human intimacy by centering on characters who exist on the social periphery. The narrative succeeds in subverting traditional power dynamics, particularly through the intellectual bond between an aging woman and a neurodivergent youth. While the film excels in portraying communication disabilities and age-related professional shifts, it lacks specific information regarding racial or ethnic diversity. The focus remains tightly on the psychological complexities of its central, unconventional relationship.
