Cheba Louisa stands out as a character-driven comedy that goes beyond superficial representation. By focusing on a North African-descended professional and a single mother, the film explores the intersection of ethnic identity and female independence. The film excels in its nuanced portrayal of the immigrant experience and the social complexities of assimilation. It avoids including someone from a minority group without giving them real depth by emphasizing the internal lives and psychological tensions of its main characters. However, the film lacks explicit representation of LGBTQ+ identities and disabilities. While the narrative strongly centers on female empowerment, the scope of diversity remains limited to specific ethnic and gender experiences.

The film delves into the rich cultural heritage of Djemila, who has North African roots. It explores the emotional and psychological challenges of assimilating into French society while maintaining her cultural identity.
