AI Analysis

Mercy Black is a genre-driven psychological horror that prioritizes suspense over social critique. While the film centers on a female protagonist and utilizes a diverse cast, it does not use these elements to challenge systemic power structures or social hierarchies. The film's primary engagement with identity is through mental health. Rather than offering progressive representation, the narrative often employs psychological instability and catatonic states as traditional horror devices to heighten tension. Ultimately, the film follows standard genre conventions. It lacks the intersectional depth or institutional commentary required to move beyond a functional, rather than thematic, approach to diversity.
