Category Breakdown
LGBTQ+ Representation
The film lacks explicit depictions of non-heteronormative identities or same-sex intimacy. The central plot revolves around a woman and a widower. However, the focus on internal emotional states leaves room for nuanced relationship dynamics.
Gender Representation
Jasmijn serves as an agency-driven protagonist rather than a passive character. Her journey is defined by her own psychological struggles and her proactive decision to travel to Morocco to find resolution.
Racial & Ethnic Diversity
Shifting the setting to Morocco provides a significant opportunity for a non-Western perspective. This movement disrupts a traditional Western-centric gaze by blending the protagonist's journey with a North African landscape.
Religious & Cultural Diversity
The narrative uses travel to deconstruct the protagonist's reality through a different cultural lens. This shift allows for a critique of Western emotional stagnation within a new social landscape.
Disability Representation
The film explores psychological trauma and writer's block as forms of invisible disability. Mental health serves as a central driver of the plot rather than a secondary device.

AI Analysis
The film succeeds in centering a female protagonist whose agency drives the narrative forward. By moving the setting from Europe to Morocco, the story avoids a purely Western-centric perspective and introduces diverse cultural textures. However, the film lacks explicit representation regarding LGBTQ+ identities. While it explores psychological trauma as a form of invisible disability, other forms of physical or neurodivergent representation remain unaddressed. Ultimately, the film's strength lies in its character-driven exploration of grief and its use of geography to facilitate emotional transformation.
