New Showbiz Analysis

Virupaksha is a localized supernatural thriller that prioritizes genre-driven suspense over social commentary. It functions within traditional frameworks, using established religious and communal structures as the foundation for its mystery. The film excels in cultural specificity, providing an authentic South Indian atmosphere. However, it maintains conventional social hierarchies, particularly regarding gendered roles and the absence of diverse identity politics. Ultimately, the work seeks to build tension through occult practices rather than disrupting power dynamics or introducing perspectives that reflect multiple aspects of identity.
