New Showbiz Analysis

Shifty is a gritty, urban character study that focuses on the localized, street-level perspective of London. It provides a realistic portrayal of socio-economic landscapes through authentic casting and a refusal to rely on mainstream crime clichés. However, the film's impact is limited by its narrow thematic scope. Its focus on a male-centric, crime-driven plot results in low representation for LGBTQ+ identities and individuals with disabilities. While the film offers a strong critique of systemic dysfunction, its reliance on a traditional masculine framework of conflict restricts its overall breadth.
