The Breakup Guru operates as a conventional romantic comedy that emphasizes commercial genre formulas over diverse representation. The narrative structure revolves around traditional romantic tension and socioeconomic realism within a specific cultural context. While the film offers a localized view of modern Chinese urban life, it lacks substantial progressive or diverse depth. The focus remains on a standard heterosexual courtship rather than exploring varied lived experiences. Ultimately, the film caters to a mainstream audience by adhering to established romantic structures, resulting in a narrative that does not significantly challenge common expectations.
