AI Analysis
8MM is a traditional neo-noir thriller that prioritizes individual psychological struggle and the voyeurism of violence over intersectional representation. The narrative architecture adheres to conventional genre expectations, centering a white male protagonist and utilizing peripheral female characters. The film's focus on a single man's obsession limits the scope of its social commentary. While it explores the breakdown of ethical boundaries, it does so through a narrow, individualistic lens rather than a systemic one. Ultimately, the work lacks the intentionality required to disrupt traditional social hierarchies or provide meaningful representation for marginalized identities.
