LGBTQ+ Representation
The film focuses on heteronormative romantic structures involving Victor, Irene, and Lola. There is no evidence of non-cisnormative identities or critiques of heteronormativity within the narrative.
Gender Representation
The story centers on a male protagonist's emotional journey. Female characters serve primarily as catalysts for his emotional state, lacking clear evidence of independent agency or subversion of gender hierarchies.

The racial composition of the ensemble remains unconfirmed. The narrative does not suggest a non-white majority or a deliberate use of casting to disrupt traditional norms.
Religious & Cultural Diversity
The film prioritizes individual psychological struggles over institutional critique. It adheres to a standard narrative of personal crisis rather than challenging established social or religious structures.

AI Analysis
The Year of the Plague functions primarily as a character study of romantic displacement and existential disruption. The narrative architecture is built around Victor’s inability to move past a former relationship, set against a backdrop of supernatural behavioral shifts. Because the core conflict is driven by individual emotional states and a localized phenomenon of possession, the film lacks large-scale systemic analysis. It follows conventional genre patterns rather than offering intersectional complexity. Ultimately, the film focuses on subjective experience and personal crisis, which limits its capacity for social or institutional deconstruction.
