In rural Connecticut, baseball players Ben and Mickey are trying to survive a zombie plague. They are forced to form a battery: a catcher and a pitcher who work together to outwit the batter, the one who hits the ball. And the batter in this case just happens to be a zombie. Tough Ben and gentle Mickey frequently disagree on the best way to go about the situation. Then they suddenly hear a human voice through their walkie-talkies. Is salvation nearby, like Mickey thinks, or is Ben’s suspicion justified?

AI Analysis
The Battery succeeds as a character study that deconstructs survivalist tropes. It replaces the typical 'conqueror' archetype with a nuanced look at male vulnerability and psychological breakdown. The film's strength lies in its sophisticated use of subtext and moral ambiguity. However, the film is limited by its narrow demographic focus. The lack of racial and disability representation creates a vacuum that prevents a more intersectional exploration of the apocalypse. Ultimately, the film is a progressive independent work that challenges social norms through its intimate, character-driven approach to a genre often defined by mindless action.
