Misfire is a straightforward action film that emphasizes fast-paced action and individual survival over social commentary. The narrative depends on well-known clichés, centered around a single male protagonist facing a high-stakes conflict. Although the setting offers ethnic variety, the film does not challenge cultural stereotypes or explore its environment in a nuanced manner. It presents a simple battle between a hero and a criminal organization. Overall, the film lacks the intention to disrupt social hierarchies, providing a traditional cinematic experience focused on combat and personal ability to act.

The story focuses mainly on male characters, particularly a tough law enforcement figure. Female characters play important roles in advancing the plot but are not given much independence.
