Deadly Exchange is a typical domestic thriller that centers on suspense and personal conflicts. The plot relies on well-known genre clichés, focusing on a mother's determination to protect her daughter from an outside threat. Although the inclusion of a foreign exchange student adds some cross-cultural interaction, the film lacks depth in representing diverse identities. It does not challenge traditional social hierarchies or power structures. Overall, the narrative stays focused on individual stakes within a traditional family structure, lacking diverse or subversive representation.
