New Showbiz Analysis

Zhang Ming’s drama centers on the female experience, using a postmodern approach to explore the internal lives of women in a changing urban environment. While it delves deeply into individual psychology, it limits its scope to a narrower focus on identity politics. The film provides a culturally authentic look at modern Chinese life, trading broad social representation for a focused exploration of individual struggles with urban alienation.
