Synopsis

Two childhood friends, 21 years old, who are trying to create a documentary in Wisconsin, struggle to keep their friendship intact after a string of seemingly paranormal events lead to the staggering conclusion that a group of three strangers are behind the activity. Their quest to discover and convict the culprits via evidence captured on camera becomes the new focus on the documentary, resulting in a cinematic endeavor that could prove to be their last. With real locations, real people, and real relationships, this is the realest found footage film you will ever experience.

Category Breakdown

LGBTQ+ Representation

Fair

The film centers on the fragile bond between two childhood friends. While their sexual orientation is not explicitly defined, the narrative emphasizes the intimacy and loyalty required to maintain their connection.

Gender Representation

Fair

Agency is placed firmly on the two protagonists as they drive their own cinematic endeavor. This focus on creator-led action suggests a departure from passive character archetypes.

Racial & Ethnic Diversity

Fair

The use of real locations and real people in Wisconsin points toward a naturalistic approach. This grounded style allows for organic casting rather than performative inclusion.

Religious & Cultural Diversity

Good

The story shifts from supernatural mystery to a human conspiracy involving three strangers. This move prioritizes systemic skepticism and human fallibility over traditional spiritual frameworks.

Disability Representation

Fair

The narrative focuses primarily on psychological and interpersonal stressors. There is no explicit mention of characters with physical or neurodivergent disabilities.

Strengths

  • The shift from supernatural elements to human conspiracy offers a complex, skeptical narrative structure.
  • The found footage style and use of real locations promote a sense of grounded realism.
  • The focus on the protagonists' friendship provides a strong, character-centric emotional core.

Areas for Improvement

  • The lack of explicit character demographics makes it difficult to assess specific diversity metrics.
  • There is no clear evidence of representation for physical or neurodivergent disabilities.
  • The film's orientation regarding LGBTQ+ identities remains undefined within the narrative.

AI Analysis

The film functions as a character-driven study of perception and interpersonal volatility. By transitioning from a paranormal mystery to a human-led conspiracy, the story moves away from supernatural tropes toward a more cynical, grounded exploration of human interaction. While the narrative architecture suggests a sophisticated approach to truth and agency, the specific demographics of the cast remain unverified. The reliance on a found footage aesthetic provides a framework for authenticity, though it lacks explicit evidence of intersectional representation.
