New Showbiz Analysis

La Belle Indifference is a character study focusing on domestic alienation and the breakdown of a marriage. It successfully deconstructs traditional masculine roles, presenting a protagonist who fails to meet societal expectations of a provider. However, the film lacks significant demographic diversity. The narrative remains largely confined to a conventional social framework, offering little visibility for LGBTQ+ individuals or diverse racial groups. Ultimately, the film prioritizes existential themes and the absurdity of modern life over broad social representation, resulting in a narrow but focused exploration of interpersonal dysfunction.

Official Synopsis

Onur is sacked from his job as manager of a pharmaceutical company. He’s not too bothered about being unemployed, but the same cannot be said of his wife Bahar. Onur doesn’t listen to her and becomes indifferent not only to her anxieties but also to the world around him. He’d rather be surrounded by more zebras. A drama with dashes of absurd comedy about events that are no laughing matter: a personal crisis that impacts their marriage.
