Adapted from Adam Perry's award-winning short film A Blessing from the Sea.

Areas for Improvement

  • The story lacks representation of LGBTQ+ identities or non-cisnormative perspectives.

AI Analysis

A Small Fortune is a localized crime thriller that relies heavily on traditional character archetypes. The plot prioritizes a singular, controlled creative vision centered on a masculine protagonist and his struggle with economic desperation. The film adheres to conventional storytelling tropes regarding family and masculinity. It lacks the intentional disruption of social hierarchies or the inclusion of intersectional identities necessary for a more progressive narrative. Ultimately, the work focuses on regional cultural specificity and the clash between old-world values and modern capitalism, resulting in a narrow demographic scope.
