Mamaia is a character-driven comedy that stands out by empowering an elderly woman as a strong, intelligent protagonist. However, the film lacks diversity in representation. There is no engagement with LGBTQ+ identities, racial diversity, or disability issues, leading to a narrower narrative scope. While the film offers a critique of predatory capitalism, it does not explore multi-layered complexities. The focus remains on individual resilience rather than broader social frameworks.
