Fabian Groys, a renowned journalist for a political news magazine, enjoys great freedom, since the stories he uncovers make for good sales. When he loses a hot story about the German army, the editor saddles him with a young female intern. Fabian hates teamwork and sticks the intern with what seems a classic tabloid story about the suicide of a man who had himself torn to shreds by a lion at the zoo. But thanks to the intern’s dogged determination, signs emerge that the story Fabian was working on and the gory zoo story are actually interlinked. Is it pure coincidence? And if it isn’t, how can Fabian fight a nebulous enemy?

Category Breakdown
LGBTQ+ Representation
The film focuses on professional friction between a journalist and an intern. There is no explicit evidence of LGBTQ+ characters or narratives designed to critique heteronormativity.
Gender Representation
The narrative disrupts hierarchies by centering the intellectual agency of the female intern. She provides critical insights that the male protagonist lacks, subverting traditional mentor/student tropes.
Racial & Ethnic Diversity
Set in urban Germany, the cast reflects a media-literate middle class. There is insufficient evidence to suggest high intersectional racial complexity or race-bent casting.
Religious & Cultural Diversity
The film critiques Western institutional ideals of objective journalism. It portrays truth as a construct of those in power, aligning with postmodernist critiques of authority.
Disability Representation
Disability does not serve as a central theme or a driver of character agency. The focus remains on the psychological and ethical dimensions of investigative journalism.

AI Analysis
The Lies of the Victors is an intellectual thriller that prioritizes the deconstruction of truth over demographic representation. It succeeds in subverting gendered professional hierarchies by granting the female intern significant investigative agency. However, the film lacks explicit intersectional diversity. There is a notable absence of LGBTQ+, racial, or disability-related narratives, which limits its overall impact on representation. Ultimately, the film's strength lies in its critique of media institutions rather than its breadth of human experience.
